It really got me thinking.</p> <p>i think- i mean- what i desire as a person of color, is acknowledgement. i don't want to make folks pay. i don't hold an entire group responsible for the racism i've experienced, for i've been denied and abused by different races and both genders. What i want is the racial disparity of our systems to be acknowledged instead of covered up, white-washed, diminished. If i say, "That is racist and it is wrong." i don't want to hear 'reasons' or excuses as to why it happened. i know why. Some people operate from hatred and ignorance. i don't want to be told that i'm being too sensitive. i want to hear, "Yes, that is racist and must not be tolerated by anyone."</p> <p>Race and class issues are the issues of all of us, not just this group or that group. If someone slurs latinos, i am not going to tolerate it because, hey, i'm not latina or well, i don't discriminate against latinos so what's the difference. And that's what i desire from others.
