Phew! Not much blogging lately. I’ve been working on building Cypher & Syllable (CnS). It still needs some polishing, but it’s finally up and running! Until we get more steam, we will be featuring occasional reprints of posts from this site and others, as well as original posts from us and other members of the CnS collective.
Last semester, when I had the students in one of my classes all making their own websites, it was interesting to watch each student work through the process of coming to an identity for his or her site. It’s hard!
Well, CnS is finally coming around as a much beefed-up version of this site, and the simpatico sites listed in my links. So, for instance, over there I am able to embed an awesome M’bama promotional video to go with my “Michelle, my belle” post, and all posts also have related content links built in.
Eventually the site will cross over to being a peer-reviewed magazine, operating off of revenue generated by purchases on the site and at the CnS store (otherwise known as the “pimp our friends” store!). We only feature stuff we like, teach, or discuss in our posts, so check it out. Right now we are pimping works by the poet Suheir Hammad, who is coming to AC in the Fall, and a music infused memoir by Ferentz Lafargue, who we hope will also be paying us a visit!
Okay, back to work…
